i've been contemplating the duality of my last name.
which was actually my first name.

it's a creature made up of half lion and half eagle.
the king of the birds and king of the beasts.

except...contrary to popular illustrations,
it is only the female griffin that has the wings.
has the freedom to move about, if you will.

the males have spikes on their tails
and they spend all day
in their mountain top homes
watching the kids.

i really like that for some reason.

anyway this is my first christmas
with the rest of the clan
for maybe ten years.
i dunno.
but it's nice to be here.

it's also a nice to realize
i've always had those wings.
